Hundreds of donors contributed $128,000 in monetary donations and materials for early childhood programs after Hurricane Katrina, sending their contributions to Embrace Mississippi's Children. (See the report "After Katrina: Rebuilding Mississippi's Early Childhood Infrastructure; The First Six Months," here.) Their contributions made an enormous difference in helping child care centers and family child care homes resume caring for Mississippi's young children.

Yet teachers and caregivers in the Hurricane Katrina disaster area still struggle every day to compensate for lost materials and supplies and the effects of lost revenue during the reconstruction period, as well as the devastation in their personal lives.



Help us brighten their days with friendly words of encouragement and contributions for their personal use or for their child care programs. Mail notes or greeting cards with gift cards for Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Office Depot, Staples, Amazon, or Barnes and Noble to:
